On Thursday, November 21, at the Crooked Can Brewery in Hilliard, Suds & Cinema Short Film Festival will hold a celebration of independent film and craft beer to showcase multiple genres of short films from Central Ohio and beyond. This short film festival began as a grassroots initiative by Nic White to support the local film community. It takes place in various breweries and offers a laid-back evening for filmmakers and film enthusiasts to connect.

The Growing Concept of Film Plus Beer

Each year, the Suds & Cinema Short Film Festival has grown, attracting more filmmakers and attendees and increasing the diversity and quality of the showcased films. The concept remains the same, presenting high-quality short independent films paired with exclusive craft beer.

The festival creates a welcoming and supportive environment for independent filmmakers, fostering a sense of community and collaboration. “We want everyone in attendance to enjoy a laid-back atmosphere and appreciate short films with a cold beer,” Nic said.

On November 21 at 7 p.m., Suds & Cinema Short Film Festival will showcase all genres of film in microfilm (15 to 90 seconds) and short-film (less than 15 minutes) formats. Ohio-made films, short films from outside Ohio and trailers will be on tap. Submissions are open until November 1 at FilmFreeway.com/Suds.
